About Start-up TN

Join StartupTN.com to plug-in with Tennessee’s startup business ecosystem, and accelerate the creation of new businesses. Joining StartupTN.com is free and connects you with the Startup Tennessee Accelerator that is working to assist the Entrepreneurs, Mentors, Investors & Business Partners in your region.

Startup Tennessee is leading entrepreneurship across the state, as part of Governor Haslam’s initiative to create high growth businesses in Tennessee. Three out of five new jobs come from companies that are less than five years old — “startups”!

As part of Governor Haslam’s Jobs4TN Proposal, funding was allocated to provide for the formation and support of nine accelerator programs in the nine regions of Tennessee. The regional accelerators are local entrepreneurs’ primary resource to connect with the resources they need to launch their business. As the coordinating partner, Startup Tennessee provides the regional accelerators with consulting on best practices to engage their entrepreneurial ecosystem and connect Entrepreneurs, Mentors, Investors and Business Partners.

In 2011, Governor Bill Haslam and Commissioner Bill Hagerty of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced the formation of Startup Tennessee, a public-private partnership designed to connect and align entrepreneurial efforts across Tennessee.

“Business startups are an important generator of new jobs in our state,” said Governor Haslam. “There are many Tennesseans today who have innovative ideas for creating a successful business, and Startup Tennessee is one of the steps we’re taking to put the infrastructure in place to help these entrepreneurs find the support, mentoring and capital they need to make their business a reality.“

“Our research tells us that a significant number of jobs in Tennessee come from people starting new companies,” said Commissioner Hagerty. “If we can create a system which helps entrepreneurs develop a sustainable business model and grow their company, we can make a significant impact on job growth in our state.”
