About Us

The Moscow Community Food Pantry is available to all residents throughout Fayette County who meet the Mid-South Food Bank guidelines for eligibility. Families who qualify receive food six times a year. One month the north side of Fayette County is served and the alternate month recipients are from the south side of the county with distribution usually occurring the fourth Monday. The distribution center is housed at 13775 Hwy 57 in Moscow, TN. In January and February new applications are accepted and/or renewed at Torkell Hall, 85 LaGrange Street in Moscow on the second and third Saturday. March through October applications are taken only on the second Saturday. No applications are taken in November and December. The Moscow Community Food Pantry was selected to be a participant in the Mid-South Food Bank’s mobile unit which provided 160,000 pounds of food in 2011 at no cost to the Pantry. Freely given mobile unit food items included frozen meat, fresh fruit and produce, bakery goods and USDA product, such as canned vegetables. Hunters for the Hungry also provide deer meat in season. Volunteers participating in all aspects of the Moscow Community Food Pantry come from approximately 22 area churches and range in age from teens to seniors who share an enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference in Fayette County. They work behind the scenes screening applicants and picking up donations, as well as out front, greeting clients and distributing food. In addition to receiving food from the Mid-South Food Bank, the Moscow Community Food Pantry is both a United Way agency and receives food contributions directly from churches, schools, social clubs and corporate partners. It is sustained through gifts from these entities and the generosity of individual donors. Donations can be mailed to MCFP PO Box 246, Moscow, TN 38057 or by visiting our website at www.moscowcommunityfoodpantry.org . We can be reached by calling 901-877-3177 and leaving a message or by e-mail at info@moscowcommunityfoodpantry.org . The Moscow Community Food Pantry came into being through the inspiration of scripture: “For I was hungry and you gave me food…” Matt. 25:35 NRSV
